Suppose you want to display all the employees with lastname,firstname,job ID that  has salary between 3000 and 5000. (using between... and .... condition).

SELECT last_name, first_name,job_id,salary
FROM employees
WHERE salary between 3000 and 5000;

Image below shows result of the query above.Sql Developer and Basic Sql statements

Suppose you want to display all the employees with employee_id, firstname, job ID that has manager Id 100,101,201 (using the IN condition).

SELECT employee_id, last_name
FROM employees
WHERE manager_id IN (100,101,201);

Another example of using the IN comparable condition to display lastname,salary of employees King, Fay, Kumar

SELECT last_name Name, salary sal
FROM employees
WHERE last_name IN ('King','Fay','Kumar');

Using the Like Condition.

You can select rows that match a character pattern by using the LIKE condition,two symbols '%' and '_' can be used to construct the search string.
'%' represents any sequence of zero or more characters '_'  represents any single character.

Examples: To display employees lastname, salary whose lastname ends with 'ing'

SELECT last_name, salary
FROM employees
WHERE last_name LIKE '%ing';

You should get results similar to the one shown below.SQL developer and basic sql statements

Now, if we want the number of letters that comes before letters 'ing' is just a single letter,we then run this query.

SELECT first_name, last_name, job_id, salary
FROM employees
WHERE last_name LIKE '_ing';
