10. Copy your oracle 11g files which are named linux_11gR2_database_1of2 and linux_11gR2_database_2of2 into Desktop as shown in image.

11. Move both files into the /tmp file by running the following command below:

          cd /root
          ls
          cd Desktop/
          ls
          mv linux_11gR2_database_1of2.zip linux_11gR2_database_2of2.zip /tmp

12. Now we switch to oracle user using the command below:; Then we can now unzip both files.

           su - oracle /*input password if prompted.*/
           cd /tmp
           ls
           unzip linux_11gR2_database_1of2.zip
           ls /*notice their is a directory database*/
           unzip linux_11gR2_database_2of2.zip
           

14. switch user back to root, input your password then you would Install some important packages before you reboot and these are the steps to install them below:

           su - root  /*switch to root, input password to continue.*/
           cd media
           ls
           cd Oracle\ Linux\ Server\ dvd\ 20110119/ /*Note: when typing 'cd O' after O,type tab key to autofill.*/
           ls
           cd Server

13. Now we need to install four important rpm packages:
libaio-devel-0.3.106-5.i386.rpm
• unix2dos-2.2-26.2.3.e15.i386.rpm
• unixODBC-2.2.1.1-7.1.i386.rpm
• unixODBC-devel-2.2.1.1-7.1.i386.rpm
• unixODBC-kde-2.2.1.1-7.1.i386.rpm
Run the following commands below to Install this packages.

          ls libaio-devel-0.3.106-5.i386.rpm
          rpm -ivh libaio-devel-0.3.106-5.i386.rpm /*installs package*/
          ls unix2dos-2.2-26.2.3.el5.i386.rpm 
          rpm -ivh unix2dos-2.2-26.2.3.el5.i386.rpm
          ls unixODBC-2.2.11-7.1.i386.rpm
          rpm -ivh unixODBC-2.2.11-7.1.i386.rpm
          ls unixODBC-devel-2.2.11-7.1.i386.rpm
          rpm -ivh unixODBC-devel-2.2.11-7.1.i386.rpm
          ls unixODBC-kde-2.2.11-7.1.i386.rpm
          rpm -ivh unixODBC-kde-2.2.11-7.1.i386.rpm
          

Installing Oracle 11g on OEL

Log out from root user,re-login as oracle user. Then open terminal to run the following commands below:

      cd /tmp
      ls
      cd database
      ls
      ./runInstaller
      

Installing Orale 11g

a GUI (graphic User Interface comes up. click on next to continue installation.
